It's Mental Health Awareness Month (aka May)!

Now available here on Kindle Unlimited, and here in paperback.

You are undoubtedly aware that mental health is a good thing to have. But did you know 22.8%* of the population (1 in 5 people!) suffers maladies of brain and mental health? Since its inception in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been all about making public, in a spirit of advocacy, the many, many challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions.

But there’s not much out there about the working and personal lives of mental health providers. And what there is, is inaccurate, being based on fiction, such as the television sitcom Frasier.

Let me make you aware of what my life as a psychiatrist is like. My creative non-fiction memoir: Practice, Practice, Practice: This Psychiatrist’s Life spans twenty-five years of clinical practice interwoven with stories from my personal and family life. You’ll track what really goes on throughout the arcs of years-long treatments—patient ambushes! Clincian pratfalls! Community curveballs! Fortunately, flawless performance is not required for a therapist to be genuinely helpful. Because clinicians read a lot, you’ll also find a few (faux) journal articles featuring psychiatrist, researcher, wife, and mother, I. M. Trapt, MD.

What readers are saying:

Amazon:

A book so good, you have to read it twice.

A fascinating look “behind the scenes.”

One of those books you just can’t put down!

Reads like a novel.

Exceptional content and writing.

Fascinating, funny and wise.

Not Amazon:

I like the parts about me. (Son)

I like the parts about me. (Hubby)

I like the part about me. (Health Insurance Billing)

I like the part about me. (Poodle Oodle)

If you’ve read the book and enjoyed it but haven’t reviewed it on Amazon, it’s not too late! Even a one word review helps authors greatly. Once the threshold of 50 reviews is crossed, Amazon starts actively promoting the book.

PSA: My professional practice book Doorknob Bombshells in Therapy: The Brain, the Deadline, and Why It Is Important to End on Time drops this September! Stay tuned for breaking news.
